A Report On Syntactic Restructuring As In The English-Chinese Translation Of The Nest(Chapter1-3)

In a certain way,literary work is a kind of art created by language and literary translation is inclined to reproduce the artistic images of original text by another language tool.Of course,translating should not be a ordinary technical variation of language form.Furthermore,it needs the translator profoundly feel the original author’s process of artistic creation through the language form of the original.At the same time,it is essential to use literary language which is suitable for original style to reproduce the content and form of the original properly.Moreover,fiction is a literary genre to reflect the life and express thought through creating characters,narrating a story and describing environment.In the report,the author selected the first to third chapter in The Nest,the one which from the American writer Cynthia D’Aprix Sweeney’s first novel in 2016 as the material.Before the beginning of the report,the translator made a clear understanding of the original author’s personal life and main ideas in order to deeply experience the original author’s process of art creation and writing purpose through referring to many books in library and surfing the Internet.Meanwhile,the translator has read the entire novel,and had an in-depth understanding to the complex relationship between the typical characters and the main plot in order to grasp the essence which the original text wants to express.Then,the author used some translating tools such as Trados and other dictionaries to translate.Above all,the author analyzed the cases from the angle of readjustment of words and sentences based on the functional equivalence theory,mainly introduced the preposing method,inserting method,inversing method,reframing method,and using some other translating strategies to analyze the whole text at the same time to make the version smooth and reproduce the original style and spirit.
