Polyphonic Writing:the Charming Soul Of S.A.Alexievich's Novels

Great attention and interests of research in the academic circle have been sparked on the polyphonic writing of S.A.Alexievich since her winning of 2015 Nobel Prize of Literature "for her polyphonic writings,a monument to suffering and courage in our time"(comments from Swedish Academy on issuing the award).Her "polyphonic writing" has got the documentary contents and polyphonic means of expression artfully integrated to feature the theme,conversation,voice of author,and structure of her works with "multi voice parts",and to communicate the author's rich ideas and deep thought to the reader."Polyphonic writing" means the soul for the artistic world of Alexievich.This paper has made a relatively in-depth and systematic exploration of her polyphonic novels on three aspects,with an aim to glimpse at the charming art of these works.Firstly,given with the dual context of history and reality,I have traced back the specific source of Alexievich's polyphonic writing,finding it not only originated from the profound literary tradition of Russia,but also rooted in the author's actual style in history writing.Secondly,in parallel with diachronic sorting and synchronic comparison,I have traced down the evolvement of Alexievich's polyphonic writing,concluding it as a highlight in the transfer of theme,conversation,voice of author,and text structure in these works.Survey of these evolvements would help revealing that polyphonic writing of Alexievich was not only realized in inheriting and transcending the literary tradition of Russia,and but has demonstrated a manner of Russian literature:the spirit of fighting forward beyond inheritance.Thirdly,starting from three aspects,----the independence of hero/heroine,the fragmentation and authenticity of language,and explicitness&recessiveness of genre and structure,I have cut into her"utopian" series of works characterized with polyphony.The diversified thinking mode manifested by innovative "polyphonic writing" has dissipated somewhat the unitary historical conclusions in an objective sense.A demonstration of ideological height in her polyphonic writing,it has paved the way for her to the literature prize,and also gives a critical evidence for us to probe into the polyphonic writing of Alexievich.
