On The "Bù H?o Yì Si"

This paper studies on the "bù h?o yì si" in Mandarin from various angles.Since "bù h?o yì si" appears in our oral expression frequently,its pragmatic functions have also undergone great changes accordingly.Based on corpus analyzing,we find there are three usages."bù h?o yì si 1"indicates conceptual meaning,"bù h?o yì si 2"expresses politeness speech act,"bù h?o yì si 3"is meta-discourse.This thesis has five chapters.The first chapter is the introduction,it consists the reasons of choosing this subject,the research status and existing problems of "bù h?o yì si",research methods and corpus,as well as the significance of the subject.The second chapter is the analysis of the three usages of "bù h?o yì si".Firstly,analyze the semantics and syntax of "bù h?o yì si1".Secondly,we divide "bù h?o yì si 2"into two parts based on the situation of the lost and benefit of speaker and listener."bù h?o yì si 2a"is compensation strategy for apology speech act,"bù h?o yì si 2b"is prevention strategy for politeness.Then we divide "bù h?o yì si 2a"into two parts based on that whether the speak benefit or not.The following sentence of "bù h?o yì si 2b"is request speech act sentence?interruption speech act?refusal speech act and rebuttal speech act.Lastly,we analyze the meta-discourse function of "bù h?o yì si3".we divide "bù h?o yì si3"into "bù h?o yì si 3a" and "bù h?o yì si3b"."bù h?o yì si3a" is attitude marker which includes speech evaluation marker and speech act evaluation marker."bù h?o yì si3b"is booster whose function is to show speaker's determination and attitude about his speech.Then according to the emotion significance,we divide "bù h?o yì si3"into self-directional?listener-directional and content-directional.The third chapter is dialogue function of "bù h?o yì si".Firstly,analyze the position of"bù h?o yì si 2",it can be put in the head of the turn,or in the position of turn acquiring,or at the end,The function of "bù h?o yì si2"in the dialogue is constructed of three dimensions as follow:drawing the turn,to be the second part of adjacency pair or to accomplish the second part of adjacency pair.Secondly,analyze the position of "bù h?o yì si3",it can be put in the position of turn acquiring,or turn remaining,The function of "bù h?o yì si3"in the dialogue is constructed of two dimensions as follow:as feedback to elicit turn and temporarily accomplish turn One word to say,"bù h?o yì si"is used to construct the conversational structure,and meanwhile,it can also represent many mutual mood of the talkers.The fourth chapter is about the formation process of "bi hao yi si".Firstly,We make a simple research about the process of formation of "bù h?o yì si i”from historical perspective,then reconstruct the formation process of "bù h?o yì si 2" and "bù h?o yì si 3".We hold the view that semantic contamination?interactive subjectivity and the deficiency of current apology are the main reasons which lead the formation of "bù h?o yì si 2".Besides,subjectivity and pragmatic inference are the main reasons which lead to the formation of "bù h?o yì si3".The fifth chapter is conclusion.We make a summary about this paper and clarify the shortcomings.
