| Li Shutong(1880-1942),the most famous artist in China’s modern history,was world renowned for his artistic achievements.The education practiceleading by Li Shutongnot only inheritedour outstanding traditional culture,but also fused the Western artistic feature.Thesongswhited and composed by Li Shutong,aiming at the promotion of China’s music education,has deeply influenced lots of young students and many distinguished artists in China’smodern and contemporary history has study under Li’s direction,for example,FengZikai and Liu Zhiping,etc.Even now,the song whited and composed by Li Shutong can still found general public acceptance.Buddhism songswhited and composed by Master Hongyi(Li’s Buddhist name),was also cherished as the artistic crown inthe Buddhist circles.With the review of the Li Shutong’s decades musical research achievementsandthe analysisof the source of his songs and lyrics,authenticity and controversiesof academic research,this paper put forwards author’s ideas hoping to support a material foundation for the further research of Li Shutong and his music.This paper consists of three parts:The first part classifies Li Shutong’s songs and illustrates the reasons of the classification and his song’s source and evolution.The second part mainly enumerates some controversies of Li Shutong’s songs and contrasts these controversies on the basis of senior scholars.Thethird part,summery and consideration of the research of Li Shutong’s songs,mainly discusses the authenticity and misunderstanding of historical materials.This paper,basing on textual criticized historical materials,conductscomparison,analysis and conclusion of various editions of Li Shutong’s songs in order to review,discriminate and revise the legacy left by Mater Li Shutong. |
