The introduction of this thesis points out the object of study is the appellation of the word"Mojie"(??),and the content of this thesis is to study the derivation,referred?objects and the pronouncing implication of this word.Chapter one is to study the appellation of“Mojie”in epigraphy materials.Trough the research,it's clear that the writing of“Mohe”(??)is same with the writing of“Mojie”(??)in the epigraphy materials.Therefore,we can give a conclusion that this word is official and extensive.And in some special occasions,this word may refer to“BoHai”(??).Chapter two is the research of“Mojie”in literature textual materiala.Through the textual research,we could know that the writing of this word can be wrote in two different forms“Mojie”(??)and“Mohe”(??),which can be seen in the historical materials of Tang Dynasty.Besides,there are other writing forms of this word,such as“??”and“??”.The third chapter is on the basis of the first two chapters,combined with phonology research method,investigating the pronunciation and meanings of the word"Mojie".The conclusion is that"Mojie"is the result of transliteration and translation,the pronunciation is"??????"or"Maka",meaning"the people in northeast".The conclusion part summed up the views of this paper,and also pointed out that the nature and the background of the appellation of "Mojie".
