The novel Tracks in The Snowy Forest is an outstanding representative work of the Seventeen-year literature. It has received wide love from the readers ever since the publication for its high revolutionary enthusiasm and fantastic romantic imagination, and from then on,the publication was quickly adapted into a variety of styles of art works, spreading throughout the whole country.Tracks in The Snowy Forest has been published for sixty years, during which the number of adapted text and forms is almost unprecedented, and there are still literary and artistic creators who have full interest in it.The first chapter of this thesis starts from the theme of Tracks in The Snowy Forest, and discusses the characteristics of different forms of the text during the course of reconstructing the theme and core idea in the process of text adaptation. The novel Tracks in The Snowy Forest originated from the author’s strong desire to honor his comrades and revolutionary heroes. However, the 1960 version of the film paid more attention to the great impact of collective heroism on revolution. And because of the special background, the theme spirit of the model opera shifted from praising heroism to the class struggle.Furthermore, the new century has gone through the digestion of heroism in the 2004 drama version drama and the de-politicization of the 2014 3D film version. For the heroism theme, there are different understandings and interpretations in different texts due to the great differences in cultural backgrounds. The expression of the text theme and the changes of the text form have inseparable relationship with the historical and cultural context,at the same time, which also has a subtle influence on people’s value orientation of the specific era.The second chapter of this thesis starts from analyzing the shape of the characters.Characters are the core of the text, who clearly reflect the era attitude to heroes and the era understanding of the revolution. This thesis mainly explores the changes and the corresponding reasons of some characters in the process of text adaptation by analyzing the main characters like Shao Jianbo(203),Yang Zirong and the negative characters like Zuoshandiao and Hudiemi. In addition, the author probes into the causes and value of their existence by analyzing the newly-added important characters in the adaptation process like Chang Bao father and daughter,Lao Beifeng bandit,Qinglian Shuangzi mother and son. From the binary opposition character set in the early adaptation works to the attempt in blurring the boundaries between good and evil in the new century, due to the development of the times or the orientation of the creator, the text presents the increasingly complex and multivariate characteristics in the shape of main characters.Based on the first and second chapters, the third chapter and fourth chapters are to explore the ways in shaping characters and highlighting themes in different forms of text.Starting from the narrative strategy of different texts, the third chapter analyzes the temporal and spatial arrangement as well as the changes in plot design and rhythm control of different texts in detail. From the rhetoric and symbolic aspects, the fourth chapter discusses and explores the evolution of the specific rhetorical device and symbolic elements between texts. If the character shape and subject interpretation of a text are carried out from the specific content of the text, the narrative strategy, rhetorical device and symbolic elements can be analyzed from the manifestation forms so as to explore the ways to shape characters and clarify theme. The manifestation form of the text is not only closely related to the content of the text, but also has its relative independence, which form an important aspect of the text aesthetic. This thesis explores the commonalities and differences of different texts by probing into the different characteristics presented in the reorganization process of Tracks in The Snowy Forest, and then analyzes the deep motivations beneath the "innovation" and "heritage" so as to provide a certain degree of answer to the trend of the adaptation of “Red Classics”. |
