Struggling To Survive

Zhu Xiang is a modern Chinese poet and also a tragic figure.In his short life,he made an outstanding contribution to the development of Chinese poetry and gained the affirmation,but at the same time his strange temper and behaviors were often criticized.In this paper,through the study of Zhu Xiang's poems,prose,letters and other works,the author uses the method of biographical research to discuss Zhu's contradictory character.With the relevant theory of psychology and historical background,the author made a comprehensive analysis of the causes of Zhu Xiang's contradictory character and summed up the tragic results of this contradictory character.Zhu's tragedy also has some practical reference for contemporary youth.It can be seen that Zhu Xiang's subjective contradictory character and objective social environment make his short life full of struggling.The fretful and depressive emotions often bother him and leave him an inharmonious relationship with his surroundings.Slowly,Zhu was caught in life's dilemma.This paper is divided into five parts.The first part is the introduction which summarizes Zhu Xiang's short and fluctuant life.It focuses on the literature review from the study of contents and discusses his living status.In this way the poet's most distinguished contradictions in personality were pushed on the stage.The second part elaborates the performance of Zhu Xiang's contradictory character.According to the classification of personality traits in psychology,it can be seen that Zhu Xiang has typical contradictions in attitudes,willings and emotional characteristics,such as irritability and soft attitudes,optimism and pessimism,strong and fragile wills.All of those are concentrated in Zhu Xiang.The third part explores the causes of Zhu Xiang's complicated character.Starting from the external and internal factors,the author does the analysis from the growth of personality,the bother of self-abasement,the influences of different education and the effects of social environment.The fourth part discusses Zhu Xiang's tragic life caused by his contradictory character,which is embodied in three aspects of life:anxiety,the edge of poetry and the death of poet.And thus the meaning of Zhu Xiang tragedy.The fifth part is the conclusion summarizing the contradictory character and the living state of Zhu Xiang and expressing the regret that the poet can not eliminate the contradiction and balance the contradiction.
