A Study On The Local-Color Narration In Cao Wenxuan's Children Novels

Cao Wenxuan,a Chinese writer,won the first China's "International Hans Christian Andersen Prize for Fairytales" in April 2016,which is the first time that the Chinese writers in the world have been awarded the prize.The exciting news has attracted the attention of major media worldwide,representing the Chinese children literature going global indeed.Cao Wenxuan is a unique writer with two pens in his hand:the one is used for studying literary theory,while another for literary and artistic creation.By doing so,he becomes an unusual talent in the Chinese contemporary literature circle who boasts either rich theoretical research results or a large number of fiction creations.Starting from Cao Wenxuan's works,the first Chinese winner being awarded the prize,the paper reveals some local-color narration rules through in-depth study on narrative strategies and characteristics in his children novels,so that any important reference value for the creation for China's contemporary children novels could be explored.The introduction of this paper firstly defines what the local-color narration is.And then based on the current status of analysis on the Cao Wenxuan's children novels,it summarizes characteristics of Cao Wenxuan's narrative mode,finally points out main breakthroughs and some methods of study used in this paper.The main body of the paper contains three parts:Chapter one discusses the connotation of local-color narration in Cao Wenxuan's children novels,with illustration on Cao Wenxuan's homesickness,rural landscape,rural ecological ethics,ecological naturalism,as well as rural children's life status in detail.The second chapter expounds the characteristics of local-color narration in Cao Wenxuan's children novels.The chapter states from multi perspectives such as foil of classical poetic background,humor style of rural language environment,narrative mode of childhood memories from multiple angles of view.By doing so,it reveals characteristics and creation rules of local-color narration in Cao Wenxuan's children novels.The third chapter illustrates the realistic significance for local-color narration in Cao Wenxuan's children novels.Cao Wenxuan prefers to describe the rural children's life under the change of the rural society formation in his children novels.This is how he can shape a pure human nature with his simple style of writing,and recall people's simplicity which is as unsophisticated as children are,with his expectation to enlighten children's value awareness in the new era.In his mode of local-color narration,there exists a strong concern towards eco-environment and human beings,which exposes a trend for narration of children novels based on the ecological literature thought.The conclusion summarizes the connotation,characteristics and practical significance for local-color narration in Cao Wenxuan's children novels.
