| Depending on the successful hosting of China-ASEAN Expo for many times and its unique geographical advantage,Guangxi has become the focus of regional common development in Southeast Asia.The book of The Development and Opening up Report of Guangxi’s Border Area detailedly introduces Guangxi’s development and opening up,and its English version will help the foreign tourists and investors to deeply understand Guangxi.Therefore,it is necessary to translate this book.Entrusted by Division of ASEAN Affairs,Guangxi Department of Commerce,the author is responsible for translating two chapters of the special report in this book,namely Research on Countermeasures of Cross-border Tourism Development in Border Area of Guangxi and Research on Border Opening up and Interactive Development Between Coastal Area and Inland in Guangxi.Based on the English translation of the above two chapters,this report starts from analysis of the source text and target readers,preparation of translation theory and tools,schedule arrangement and quality control.Guided by Alexander Fraser Tytler’s three principles of translation,namely,the translation should give a complete transcript of the ideas of the original work,the style and manner of writing should be of the same character as that of the original,and the translation should have all the ease of the original composition as the theoretical support,this report detailedly analyzes some cases,such as names of local scenic spots in Guangxi,technical terms for Guangxi’s economic development,long and loose sentences,no-subject sentences and sentences with numerous parallel verbs.As this translation project belongs to the publicity text,the translator pays much attention to accurately conveying information about Guangxi’s cross-border tourism and border trade development to readers,effectively realizing the purpose of publicity.The translator hopes that this report will play a positive role in publicizing Guangxi and also provide some reference for English translation of the similar texts with local characteristics. |
