With the prosperous development of teaching Chinese as a second language,so many researches have been published recent years,which accelerated the development of teaching practice.As a Chinese volunteer teacher,the author is honored to have the opportunity to teach Chinese in Confucius Institute at Bulacan State University.During the teaching practice,the author realized the importance of class teaching language,especially the medium language.But there’s always an argument over medium language and the theory is not yet settled.What’s more,the author found that there was almost no research based on the medium language during Chinese classroom teaching in the Philippines,which made the author feel it was more necessary to do this research.There are totally five chapters in this paper.In the first chapter,the author summarizes the important theories and researches of both China and aboard about this field.In the second chapter,the author analyzes the statistical results of the questionnaire surveys on some of the mandarin learners in Bulacan State University as well as all the Chinese teachers working in the Confucius Institute.In the third chapter,the author chooses some typical parts of the collected recordings of classroom teaching in different levels in elementary stage,and tries to find some problems in medium language using during class and reveal the general rules of medium language by case analysis.In chapter four,combined with some teaching experience,the author sums up both of the positive and the negative effects of medium language in elementary stage and provides seven practical suggestions on medium language using based on the results of the research.Chapter five draws a conclusion based on the former research and points out the limitations of this paper.
