A Report On The E-C Interpretation Of The 2017 Jiangsu Provincial Government Work Report Under The Guidance Of Interpretive Theory

With the deepening of the globalization and advancement of China's international status, an increasing number of countries want to know more about China. During the exchanges with the rest of world, the government work report, as an important way of releasing information, is not only favored by domestic press but also foreign press. For domestic press, the government work report serves as a platform for exchanges with the government. For foreign press, it is also a channel to acquire information of latest policies and development in China. During the study, the author finds out there are only 13 papers in CNKI when use government report and interpretation as the key word. In recent years, China develops rapidly. The government work report is not only interpreted into English, even Japanese. Thus, the writer thinks it's necessary to study the government work report and explore the interpreting strategies in it.This thesis firstly introduces the background, the description and the significance of the research. Then it expounds the origin and development of the Interpretive Theory. In the meantime, it also reviews the development history of the Interpretive Theory,predecessors' research in China and makes a discussion about the interpretive level,subject and process. On the basis of the Interpretive Theory, this thesis makes a detailed introduction of features of the press conference interpreting from two aspects—language and content and analyzes the causes for interpreting difficulty. Finally, the author provides with the coping strategies against interpreting difficulty which are information processing, interpretation, adjustment of the sentence structure and literal translation.With gradual development of the interpreting research, more and more people take part in the research. However, there is still short of analysis of interpreting strategies in the conference interpreting. The author, based upon real practice of the 2017 Jiangsu Provincial Government Work Report, hopes to strengthen the interpreting ability and also provides with some interpreting strategies.
