Fashion Shenzhen Show is also known as China International Fashion Brand FairShenzhen.Founded in Shenzhen in 2001,Fashion Shenzhen Show has been cultivating the fashion industry persistently for 19 years and become one of the most influential professional fashion tradeshows in China and Asia Pacific area.As one of the most influential professional fashion tradeshows in China and Asia Pacific area,it attracts over 130,000 visits from 36 countries and regions in 2018.The communication demand among buyers promotes the demand of interpreters,who will facilitate the fair.This report is based on the interpreter's consecutive interpreting practice for the Fashion Shenzhen Show 2018.Based on the Interpretive Theory of Translation,this report aims to discuss the linguistic challenges and problems encountered during interpreting and analyze the coping tactics to deal with the problems.The report is composed of five parts.First of all,this report gives a comprehensive description of the background,including the introduction to the task,the Fashion Shenzhen Show,the speaker and his company,and the interpreter.Then,the pre-task preparations,the interpreting process,and the post-task summary are described in detail.Next,this report analyzes the feature of this task as well as the interpretive theory.Then,this author discusses the challenges she encountered,the problems that existing in interpreting,and coping tactics applied in the interpreting practice,including amplification,omission,and paraphrase.Finally,the paper concludes with some findings.The interpreter hopes,through this paper,to find more ways to promote her interpreting skills and share her experience with other interpreters.
