Since the beginning of the new era, China’s demand for higher vocational talents has changed, and accordingly higher vocational English teaching is demanding for revolutions in order to improve the quality and effectiveness of teaching, and to train more vocational talents who can meet the need of the society better. Considering the current situation of higher vocational English teaching, writing teaching, as an important part of English teaching, which has been difficult all the time. In the actual teaching activities, it is difficult to improve the effectiveness of writing teaching because of the improper teaching methods,the boring teaching content and students’ lack of basic English knowledge and so on. Therefore, in recent years, many scholars have done a great deal of research on innovation of the English writing teaching method in higher vocational colleges, which aims to promote the English writing teaching quality through the application of new teaching methods.This paper investigates the application of the process approach in the teaching of English writing in higher vocational schools. Through experimental contrast analysis,this paper explores the effectiveness of process teaching method in English writing teaching. By using the methods of experimental teaching and questionnaire survey and comparing the teaching effects of writing before and after the application of process teaching method, it is proved that the application of process teaching in the teaching of English writing in higher vocational schools has achieved good results. Through the application of the process of teaching methods, it cannot only achieve the teaching objectives more effectively, but also enhance the students’ interest in learning significantly, and the teaching efficiency and teaching effectiveness are also improved greatly. It can be seen that the process teaching method is more suitable for the teaching of English writing in vocational schools in the actual teaching process, certain principles and strategies should be followed in order to achieve better application effect.
