Hainan island,as the second largest(after Taiwan)island in China,is in the southern end of the mainland.Hainan islandas close as lips and teeth to Guang Dong is bordered by Qiongzhou Strait,facing Beibu Gulf opposite to Guang Xi and Vietnam.It is apart from Taiwan in the east and off the vastSouth China Sea in southeast.Hainan island is important in thegeographical location as well as its rich natural resources.Hainan island is located in the tropical north rim with the tropical monsoon climate.It rains a lot with high temperature in almost the whole year without winter,which enjoys a good reputation of natural greenhouse.Rice in Hainan island could be harvested for three times per year and it is rich in various kinds of economic crops.In addition,it ownsabundant mineral resources,fisheries resources,forest resourcesand so on.These resources mainly focused on the Li region due to the effect of geographical climate.After the outbreak of comprehensive war of aggression against China,the Japanese were full of ambitionnot only on territory of our country,but also made invading and plundering resources as the main purpose of waging war.With the bankruptcy of subjugating China,the Japanese were mired in a long campaign.In order to continue to maintain its war of aggressionthe Japanese began to sustain the war by means of war and Hainan island with its rich resources was coveted by the Japanese.Long before the Japanese occupation of Hainan island,Japanese experts and scholars had done survey and explorationongeography resources of hainan island evenLi region.After the occupation of Hainan,Japanese then set up a control mechanismand began the predatory exploitation of mineral resources such as iron ore,crystal minein Li region,seized land,salt pans and fish farms,and carried out rules of business and trade.Its essence wascrazy plundering of Li region as well as the whole Hainan,although Japan declared the development and construction.Itwas deeply due to the current political,economic,military and international factors.During the period ofoccupation of the Li area's and economic plunder,Japanese not only rob a lot of resources,but alsocaused enormous losses to the life and property of the Hainan compatriots of Li and Han nationality.What's more,economy development and the production activities in Li region had been stagnant or even retrogress,hindering the economic development of it.The author hope that the detailcombing of the process in this articlecan,on one hand,make usidentify the aggressive nature of the Japanese invaders,on the other hand,offer some reference for today's Li area economic development.
