A Report On The Simulated Simultaneous Interpreting Of Apple's New Product Launch In Autumn Of 2016

Simulated simultaneous interpreting,a common method utilized by interpretation learners,intends to create a real situation for interpreters.It can be a good way to help the interpreters see their problems,and then find out strategies to solve them in order to make improvements accordingly.For this thesis,simulated simultaneous interpreting practice is chosen.It aims to find out the difficulties and problems in the simultaneous interpreting practice,seeking out the reasons and strategies for them.This is a report on simulated English-Chinese simultaneous interpreting without transcript,based on the simulated simultaneous interpreting of a part of the Apple's new product launch in the autumn of 2016.On September 7,2016,Apple held a special event,launching a series of new products,among which the iPhone7 and iPhone 7 Plus are the most attractive products and therefore chosen as the source speech material for interpreting.The thesis is divided into five chapters.Chapter One is introduction,illustrating the general background of source material and interpreting method selected,the simulated simultaneous interpreting.Chapter Two is Task Description,giving a brief explanation of the task background and requirements.Apple's iPhones have enjoyed a world fame all the time and each of the company's annual new product launch has attracted global attention.This thesis chooses iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus of 2016 as a study material.Chapter Three describes the Task Process,including pre-task preparations,interpreting process and audience feedback.Chapter Four is the essential part of the report,analyzing the problems the author met in the interpreting process and strategies proposed accordingly.On the basis of Gile's Efforts Model and other theoretical support,the thesis analyzes fast speed of speech,syntactic differences between Chinese and English,and technical terms interpretation,lists their causes or effects,and comes up with some methods and strategies to solve them.Chapter Five is the Conclusion of the report.It summarizes the problems and solutions in the analysis report particularly.
