Research On The Development Of Performing Ballroom Dancing With Chinese Characteristics

Ballroom dancing is an art form originated from western traditional folk dance.It has been evolving and self-perfecting for centuries and ultimately presents a dance form mainly represented by modern dance and Latin dance and covering ten kinds of dances.In China,Shanghai pioneered the trend of learning western social dance from 1920s to 1930s,and followed the developed countries in Europe and America in terms of the professional level.However,since the development of ballroom dancing in China was restricted by the political,economic and social factors,it completely disappeared in China.In 1980s,with the spring breeze of reform and opening up,ballroom dancing was introduced into the country and developed rapidly,but there was a world of difference between China's ballroom dancing disappearing in China for many years and western ballroom dancing with continuous development and advanced level.After more than 30 years,the competitive level of China's ballroom dancing has been significantly improved under the joint forces of government guidance,social support and mass participation.However,once in the pursuit of the growing speed,intensity and other technical difficulties in ballroom dancing competition terrain,the natures of ballroom dancing subordinate to dance art,respectively performance and artistry,have been increasingly prominent,but in the face of significant differences between Chinese and western traditional culture and human physiological form,we seem inadequate to use the language of western dance to convey the cultural connotation.Therefore,the ballroom dancing artists of our country are constantly looking for the breakthrough.The Chinese nation is the one full of excellent traditional culture,from which we have the inexhaustible cultural and artistic creation materials as well as also similar dance language.The emergence of performing ballroom dancing with Chinese characteristics is a great attempt to fulfill and dig the performance and artistry of ballroom dancing,which is also the internal driving force of the development and innovation of dance art itself as an effective way to establish China's cultural self-confidence.Based on the background of the emergence and development of ballroom dancing,and the overall development process of ballroom dancing in our country,this thesis studies the whole formation and evolution process of performing ballroom dancing with Chinese characteristics.According to the features of different periods,it is divided into three stages through the time sequence,that is,the positioning stage,the formation stage,and the development stage.Then,the methods of integrating Chinese characteristics into performing ballroom dancing are analyzed from four elements of dance works,that is,dance theme,music selection,exercise combination and costume design.Finally,this thesis summarizes the significance of developing the performing ballroom dancing with Chinese characteristics and puts forward the corresponding suggestions for the development of ballroom dancing with Chinese characteristics in our country in the future.
