A Study On The Relationship Between Locus Of Control And Self Conscious Emotion Of Adolescent

The adolescence is the important stage for individual self-conscious development.Self-conscious emotion is a senior emotion based on self-evaluation.It can regulate individual’s consciousness,emotion and behavior.Locus of control belongs cognitive system,an important develop assignment in adolescence.For the adolescent,their internal control can forecast good social adaptive behavior positively,while their external control can forecast bad social adaptive behavior positively.Self attribution and self evaluation are the base of self-conscious emotion,while attribution theory is the theoretical basis of locus of control,and locus of control has been proved that it is one personality trait of core self-evaluation.In order to research the interaction between self-conscious emotion and locus of control,19 students from primary grade six to junior grade one were investigated by Test of Self-Conscious Affect for Adolescent(TOSCA-A)and Multidimentional Measure of Children’s Perceptions of Control(MMCPC).The results showed:(1)TOSCA-A has good reliability and validity and can be used in the next study.(2)The scores of shame were positive correlated withthe scores of MMCPC.(3)The scores of guilt were negatively correlated with the scores of MMCPC powerful others control,while positive correlated with the scores of MMCPC internal control.(4)The scores of alpha pride and beta proud were positive correlated with the scores of MMCPC internal control,in addition,the scores of alpha pride were positive correlated with the scores of MMCPC powerful others control.(5)The scores of externalization and unconcern were positive correlated with the scores of MMCPC powerful others control and unknown control.Final conclusion:(1)TOSCA-A has good reliability and validity and can measure the adolescents’self-conscious emotion effectively.(2)There is correlation between self-conscious emotion and locus of control.
