From The Gaze To Glance

With the development of new media technology and mobile Internet,the popularization of the mobile phone,tablet computer and other similar mobile media have gradually become the main ways that users watch online videos because of their own characteristics and advantages.Various terminals and the development of mobile Internet has enriched the channel and platform of image communication.In addition,they make the production of image content more popular and widespread and they enhanced the overall pattern of audio-visual industry to a great extent.Compared with cinema,television and other traditional media,users can use "fragment" leisure time to watch programs or browse other contents randomly in a relaxed way via mobile media.Users can also adjust the angle and distance between themselves and the diveces as they like so that they can enjoy the smaller screen better.In comparison with the traditional “ceremonial” means of watching a program on a TV or in a cinema,with portable diveces like cellphones or tablets,users have managed to change their habit of watching programs from “gaze” on a TV to scatteredly “glance” on a mobile terminal.In order to adapt to distributed "glance" of mobile media,aesthetic standards of the original image,application and expression of picture elements,basic video production standards and technical indicators have been adjusted and changed.The changes are based on full consideration of mobile video viewing environment and viewing habit of mobile users which leads to unique artistic features.As a form of art derived from traditional documentary in a new media environment,micro documentary is characterized by time and space,moving light,shadow and color.Borrowing and extending the artistic methods from conventional artisctic skills and tecniques,at the meantime,referring to the viewing ways and characteristics of mobile terminal,micro documentary has been changed and adjusted and become a comprehensive and personalized unique language,at the same time a completed space-time intersectional,audio-visual art form.Therefore,taking the perspective of "gaze to glance",the change of demand and screen features as basic arguments,this paper is to study the picture modeling micro documentary under the new media environment.This paper consists of four parts: the first part introduces the research background,significance,research overview,innovation,research foundation,research methods and ideas and related concepts and definitions.The second part analyses the picture modeling elements in the environment of “glance” mainly based on some excellent micro documentary including light,composition and color;the third part is the application and processing of "glance" in the context of other micro documentary.And analysis to some aspects the frontier of outstanding works based on field of shooting scale,depth of field,lens movement,shot group and unconventional use of lens.The second and the third part are of great importance.It explores the difference between micro and traditional documentary on the aspect of innovative elements and difference in picture modeling through processing the picture modeling element and lens and the use of induction and analysis of these two aspects.The fourth part interprets personal micro documentary works《Memory of Xiahao in Chongqing》with the combination of practice and theory.Digital media art has crossed disciplines and a wide range and it has the characteristics of cross media development,multimedia integration.micro documentary is a form of digital media art.This paper studies the integrated use of micro documentary with footage modeling art,film science,communication science and other disciplines as theoretical guidance.It takes advantage of the combination of vertical and horizontal dimensions,the inter-complementary of point and surface and the application of case analysis,experiment,investigation.Thus,this thesis can avoid poor comprehension and understanding caused by single theory and method and find the value of micro documentary thoroughly.
