Research And Application Of Traditional Metal Weaving Technology In Modern Design

Weaving is one of the oldest crafts of mankind,dating back to the ancient Inca's tying knots to keep records.After development of thousands of years,the materials and techniques of the weaving craft have developed into a wide range of categories to meet the different needs of modern human life.The metal weaving process studied in this paper is derived from the combination of the metal material properties with other types of weaving process.With the rapid development of modern social science and technology,most of the traditional craft products that were relied on in the past life have been inapplicable in modern lifestyles,thus becoming "flashy" handicraft products,so the corresponding traditional handicrafts get gradually lost.The traditional metal weaving process and its products suffer a similar fate.In recent years,the "craftsmanship spirit" increasingly becomes the mainstream topic of society,while this word has also appeared in the government work report,being named one of the top ten buzzwords in 2016.This paper unfolds through the following four parts: The Introduction to Metal Weaving,Weaving Process Overview,The Status of Metal-weaving Products,Innovation and Outlook,and finally draws the design conclusion based on the research and innovation of metal weaving process.The ultimate goal of this study is to,in combination with the "craftsmanship spirit",find an approach to explore traditional metal weaving process that fairly meets the needs of modern life.
