| This thesis, which is in the form of a practice report,is based on simulated interpreting of the opening ceremony of the seminar on China-Pakistan Economic Corridor. The report takes the Interpretive Theory as its theoretical frame and tentatively discusses the applicability and feasibility of the skills the author summed up from some typical cases. In addition, practical solutions are offered to address problems in the interpreting practice.According to the Interpretive Theory, translation is a communicative act with the aim to convey communicative messages. Based on the hypothesis of de-verbalization,the Interpretive School established the triangular model of interpreting and divided interpreting process into three stages: comprehension, de-verbalization and reformulation. Each stage affects the interpreter’s performance from various perspectives, but "sense" is always should be translated. This report falls into four chapters. In the first chapter, the interpreting task and preparatory work are described. Chapter 2 offers a general introduction to the core ideas of the Interpretive Theory, including the three stages of interpreting process. In Chapter 3, typical cases are analyzed, with solutions proposed. In the last chapter, the author makes a conclusion to provide useful reference for future interpreting. |
