A Comparative Study Of Eileen Chang's Acceptance History In Taiwan And Mainland China(1949— )

Eileen Chang and her influence is one of the most important cultural phenomena in modern China,and her acceptance history is an important part in this phenomenon.Eileen Chang has always been the topic of modern Chinese literature history,scholars' discussion about her did not weaken with her death,but hot constantly.In this research,Eileen Chang is placed in the special historical background to compare Eileen Chang's acceptance history in Taiwan mainland China.This research comprehensively observes Eileen Chang's acceptance history in the special background of Taiwan and mainland China,combing the researches to observe the emergence and evolution of literary thought historical background.This research divided into three stages about Eileen Chang's acceptance process.The first stage,in the early 1950 s,Eileen Chang left Shanghai to Hong Kong because of surroundings changes,and created The Rice-Sprout Song and Naked Earth in the case of life pressure.Eileen Chang,who was crowned the“anti-Communist writers”,was able to enter Taiwanese literary world for The Rice-Sprout Song.Her other works were published in Taiwan in the 1960 s and set off a “Eileen Chang fever”.But Eileen Chang was not mentioned in mainland China because of some special reasons,which resulted in silence about her for nearly three decades.The second stage,in the1970 s,Taiwanese realist literature prevail,Eileen Chang's works were questioned by different positions of scholars.Among them,Lin Baiyan and C.T.Hsia discussed Eileen Chang's historical issues;Tang Wenbiao and Stephen C.Soong debated around her works of the evaluation criteria.In the 1980 s,the mainland academics were gradually out of the ideological fog,and began to re-explore Chang and her works.At the same time,Eileen Chang and her works were familiar to mainland readers by many channels.In the third stage,after the 1990 s,the study of Eileen Chang showed a trend of microcosmization and convergence Taiwan and mainland China.But there were some differences,which is mainly reflected Eileen Chang'sposition in the literary history.By contrasting Eileen Chang's acceptance history,writers and literary works are influenced by cultural environment,which result in Eileen Chang and her works have different evaluations and positions in Taiwan and mainland China.
