The New London Group put forward the concept of multiliteracies in 1996.The concept of multiliteracy is based on two arguments.The first argument engages with the multiplicity of communication channels and media;the second with the increasing salience of cultural and linguistic diversity.Multiliteracy refers a new way of learning.Apart from the traditional way of learning,multiliteracy extended to the audio-visual literacy,MOOC literacy,PowerPoint literacy,network and other literacy.So multiliteracy means to learn the current multimodal text critically.This paper aims to study the current situation of multiliteracies of domestic English major students through the empirical study and verify the relationship between multiliteracies and students' English language level through the test.Therefore,the author combines the quantitative and qualitative analysis,and makes questionnaire and interview on 70 students,in order to learn students' cognition and attitude of multiliteracy.PPT production and presentation could test students with their choice and application of multiliteracies,objectively reflect students' application of multiliteracies through training.MOOC is the first choice for students to conduct self-study,which includes a wide range of professional courses and a variety of multiliteracies.In addition,this paper studies the situation and method of their multiliteracy through PPT and MOOC.It shows that English major students applied the multiliteracy unconsciously in the pretest;after explaining the multiliteracy,the author finds that most of the students understand the multiliteracy elements and significance.So they begin to consciously use the multiliteracy.Their muliliteracies developed with their English level to some extent.The study can provide specific information about the multiliteracies level and situation of modern college English major students for the front-line English teachers,in order to make them pay more attention to the cultivation and awareness of students' multiliteracies.At the same time,it can make teachers to realize the importance of and awareness and the necessity of improving their own multiliteracies.
