Ancient Building Survey Report Of Chongqing Xituo Yunti Street

Xituo Town is in the southeast of Chongqing,which is the main traffic thoroughfare that connects the water and land at the upper Yangtze River.Yunti Street,which is the major street since ancient times in the town,has been impacted by many factors such as the unique terrain of mountains,the culture from Ba,Shu,Chuhan,and the characteristically historical background of “Chuan Yan Xiao Chu”,and finally formed its unique settlement patterns and architectural style.With the development of urban modernization,the construction of Three Gorges Hydro-power Project and the rise of tourist economy,Yunti Street is stepping on the way of transformation as well.At the end of 2005,Yunti Street started the Landscape-Transformation Project,which started at 2008,and not finished even now.Throughout previous surveys,there was no systematic exploration on Yunyi Street's ancient buildings.Scholars concentrated more on Xituo Town's development and Yunti Street's whole condition rather than on the detailed research of each building.The author has gained some understanding of architectural structure as well as the landscape-transformation condition of the now-existed 111 ancient buildings after the flooding of Yunti Street through searching data,interviewing and investigating the local habitants.The provided materials had acted as references to some extent.And the finding shows that the architectural style is not consistent with the historic background and the habitants are not pay much attention to the protection of the ancient building as well as the anticipated transformation of Yunti Street.To solve the problem,the author has combined her own thoughts and learned from other plans,then proposed the suggestions in 3 main aspects:1.The exterior environment-restoration of Yunti Street,which will make the surrounding environment match the old-style buildings,create an antique flavor of historical atmosphere,and decrease the abruptness of everywhere people can see.2.The overall momentum repair,which will make Yunti Street more complete in terms of not only style but also momentum.From an overall perspective,it will form ascenery called “the dragon pumping”.3.The singular figure repair,which will repair,reinforce,and further protect each ancient building on Yunti Street without changing Yunti Street's buildings' historical feature.This will be done through aiming at the current situation as well as the specific problem of the buildings,combining original data of the buildings and obeying the principle of “remaining old as before”.Starting with the 3 main aspect above,we hope that the ancient buildings in Yunti Street could not only adapt the economic environment in the modernization age,but also reserve their own unique style under the protection as well as the development.It is also hoped that this survey will provide relative references and contribution to the future development of Yunti Street.
