A Report On Simulated Simultaneous Interpreting Of The 59^th Grammy Awards

Recently,with the increasing globalization,the market for simultaneous interpretation is expanding with simultaneous interpreting being not only just used in the field of International News reporting and Press conference but also in sports and entertainment.The topic of the present paper originates from the interest of the author who has consciously followed well-known awards ceremonies.So the author did a simulative simultaneous interpretation practice of the 59 th Grammy Awards Ceremony,summarized and analyzed the problems and tactics in the process of the simulated task,then put forward some ideas to better the interpretation practice.Information loss,inappropriate expression and misunderstandings are often existing in the process of simultaneous interpretation.Therefore,the author needs to propose some methods to guarantee the quality and accuracy of the version to deliver the information exactly.This paper consists of five chapters: The author introduces the interpreting task in Chapter One,which mainly describes the Grammy Awards,such as its history,position,schedule and so on,as well as analyze the aim of the task.Chapter Two describes the interpreting process.There are two main parts in this chapter,namely,interpreting preparations and the interpreting process.Interpreting preparations include the introduction to the background knowledge of the task,theory to be used and interpreting tools,etc.The interpreting process includes the content of the task and material collection and reorganization at the end of the practice.Chapter Three discusses the assessment and feedback of the task.At first,the author introduces the quality assessment criteria combined both the author's self-assessment and evaluation from the audience.Chapter Four is the detailed description of a case study,in which the interpreting process is analyzed with the mistakes categorized,and some further suggestions are given on bettering the interpretation practice.Chapter Five is the conclusion,in which,some advice is provided for the simultaneous interpreting practice in the future.
