This is a translation project report whose source text is named The Role of Trade in Ending Poverty,a report published in World Bank Publications on line, with only chapter one and chapter two being selected. The ST is a report written by WTO and WBG.In chapter one,the macro links among global economic growth, trade and poverty are mainly discussed. In chapter two,the constraints faced by the remote rural farmers and the poor in the developing countries are elaborated, including conflicts, informality and gender gaps.Composed by four parts, this translation report introduces preparations for the translation, objectives of the report, significance and structure of the project in chapter one.The main contents of the report background,an introduction to the authors and linguistic features of the report are discussed in chapter two.As the translator believes that a better understanding of links between trade and poverty can convey accurate information.Divided into three parts, chapter three is of great importance, with detailed information about theoretical basis, difficulties and methods for translation.Since the ST report is on economy and trade, there are some terminologies and long sentences to be solved.Under the guidance of Skopos rules, the translator applies division technique to reorganize the logic to convey key information.Meanwhile, prepositions are conversed into verbs correspondently.Skills like addition, omission, change of voices are also largely adopted make up the difference. The summary in chapter four emphasizes the lessons learned from the translation practice and problems to be solved. The translator hopes that this project translation can make a contribution to the whole society, allowing more people to know the risks and constraints faced by the poor and the efforts that shall be made to end poverty. In this way, more people can benefit from the global trade and the conditions or environments for economic activities in remote rural areas can be improved.
