This translation project report selects the second chapter of The Status of the Translation Profession in the European Union as the object of translation and study.Collaborated by Anthony Pym,Claudio Sfreddo,Andy L.J.Chan and Fran?ois Grin,the book studies the status of translation profession in the European Union and adopts some traditional standards to measure the status of translation profession.The second chapter makes a summary and responds to four aspects including the status of translators in various census,taxation and other systems,the status of academic qualification and training,the status of sworn or authorized translators and the role of professional associations.Meanwhile,tremendous case studies in this chapter have assured the accuracy of conclusion.This report can assist the Chinese translators to have a deeper understanding of the status of the translation profession in the European Union,thus they can rethink their own work.As an academic text and written in an accurate and rigorous way with some figures of speech,this book has presented the current situation of the translation profession precisely and vividly.A conclusion is finally formed by exploring a large number of case studies.This translation report consists of four parts.Chapter one elaborates the background and significance of the project.Chapter two mainly discusses the original text.The information of author and publication and the analysis of main content of the book are included.Skopos theory of functional theories and equivalence theory by Werner Koller are expounded in the third chapter.This part also includes several translation strategies including addition,sequential translation and division.The last chapter is the conclusion of the whole report.
