Investigation And Research On The Use Of Chinese Characters In South Korea

Chinese characters has had a profound impact on the writing system of the Korean Peninsula,and becomes a bridge of cultural exchange between China and Korea.Even after Korean created a complete Korean writing system,and promulgated the "Thunminjeongum",the use of Chinese characters has never really disappeared in South Korea.Firstly,from the diachronic perspective,this paper systematically discusses the history and current situation of the use of Chinese characters in Korea.Secondly,through the comparative analysis method,this paper comparatively analyzes the differences of commonly used Chinese characters in China and South Korea.thirdly,understanding the attitude of Korean on the current use of Chinese characters,and discussing hot issues about the development of Chinese characters in South Korea by means of questionnaire.Finally,this paper looks forward to the prospect of Chinese characters in Korea,refutes the view that Chinese characters should be completely abandoned,and discusses the necessity and feasibility of strengthening Chinese characters education in South Korea.Chinese and Korean has a long history of sharing Chinese characters,which has profound impact on the Korean society.Chinese characters is unlikely to disappear completely in short term and will continue to serve in the Korean language life.The research results of this paper can be directly applied to Chinese character teaching for Korean.It is hoped that this paper will help people to understand Chinese characters and promote the development of friendly relations between China and South Korea.
