| Yang Wanli,born in the Southern Song Dynasty,went through Emperors Gaozong,Xiaozong,Guangzong,Ningzong in succession,when Song Study was in the prime with distinct schools of thought contending.Therefore,his academic ideas were deeply influenced by Huxiang school,Luo school,Fujian school,Mind school and other factions.With its plain interpretation of mind,his “Theory of Heart” roughly displayed the tracts and directions of distinct schools of thought during that period if his thoughts analyzed.Yang Wanli was no advocate of empty words in the process of academic study.Based on the thorough study of mind,on one hand,he explored the source of mind and find out the value of Six Classics in Saint Theory by tracking down the roles of Six Classics in the teaching process of saints.On the other hand,starting from the genealogy of Confucianism and interpreting the roles of ancient saints in the development of Confucianism,Yang Wanli constructed the system of his "Confucian Orthodoxy" featuring his own thoughts,which highlighted the richness of Confucianism.This thesis embodies the essence of thoughts of Yang Wanli's “Theory of Heart” from three parts.In the first part—introduction,the source?research status and value of this project are expounded.In the second part,through research on Er Cheng's and Zhang Shi's influence on Yang Wanli,especially on the thoughts of his study of mind,characteristics of Yang Wanli's thoughts were studied,which laid a foundation for illustration of the way how his thoughts in “Theory of Heart” were stated.In the third part,the thoughts of each of twenty articles in Yang Wanli's “Theory of Heart” are analyzed in details.In the fourth part,with the background of all his thoughts and the long history of Song Study,the importance and the distinctive features of Yang Wanli's “Theory of Heart” in Song Study are clarified. |
