The Study Of Shen Yuqing

Shen Yuqing came from an official family,who had been received a good family education.In 1885,he successfully passed the examination of “Jing Zhaoyin”.Later on,he had attended the shogunate of the Qing dynasty official,just like Zeng Guofan,Liu Kunyi and Zhang Zhidong.He had built the Jiangnan Institute of Navy,oversaw Hubei vibration and river work and participated in the “southeast mutual insurance”.Shen Yuqing had a rough official career,as the Provost of Shuntian,the Commissioner of Jiangxi,and the provincial governor of Guizhou after 1903.He had dealt with military affairs,student affairs,set up new institutions and prohibited opium for the Qing government's New Deal policies.But these new policies were not implemented and had not big impact,because of the limitation of social conditions.Reviewing these historical records is helpful to know about the implementation of the Qing government's New Deal policies and the political situation in Late Qing dynasty even the political environment where the most officials live.Shen Yuqing resigned the provincial governor of Guizhou and settled in Shanghai to be an adherent of a former dynasty after the Xinhai Revolution.He had an easy life because of a few savings.He joined Chaoshe and Yishe,which were the most popular among and the adherents of a former dynasty,to show their sadness.Comments on the humans and the society have always been the starting point and the foothold of the historical study.In this paper,the facets of society has been reflected through collecting relative data and fixing his life experience under the background of the big changes to look for his idea of doing things to detailed experience side the development of modern history.This paper consists of four chapters.The family,the family study and the imperial examinations of Shen Yuqing has been mainly introduced in the first chapter.In the second chapter,the experience of his official career in the late Qing dynasty has been mainly overviewed and analyzed.As an official in Guizhou,his response of the Revolution in 1911 has been discussed in the third chapter.In the fourth chapter,the introduction of Shen Yuqing after Xinhai Revolution and his daily activities in Shanghai as an adherent have been presented.
