The title of this thesis is A Probe into the Folk Cultural Relationship between North America and Northeast Asia from Crow Mythologies.The core this thesis will study is the early crow mythologies of the Indian tribes of North American and the Manchu area in Northeast China.It will explore the folk cultural origin of North America and Northeast Asia through analyzing and decoding the crow mythologies.The earliest history of mankind lacks records,so mythologies passed from mouth to mouth are important materials to analyze history.To make a textual research on the folk cultural origin of North America and Northeast Asia,we trace back crow mythology of the two places.When casting our eyes over the ancient Northwest Indian civilization dating back over 3000 years,we can find a lot of crow mythology produced and spread in the Indian tribes,which has many similarities in content and themes with the crow mythology of the Manchu region in Northeast China.For the narrative descriptions about the crow and its activities in the mythology reflect primitive men's way of thinking to understand the world and their cultural levels,the cultural relations between the two places can be confirmed through crow mythology.Crow mythologies of the two places both include mythological types such as crows stole the sun on the subject matter,crows take the fire,crows create the world,et cetera.Besides,as for mythological elements,both have the same elements,including the sun,fire,earth,stone and so on.This is a reflection of similar thinking and the same way of production of the two places.The reasons for the similarities of the mythology subject and content of the two places may include the ethnographic origin and cultural connection.Therefore this thesis is set to explore the folk cultural relations between North American Indian region and the Manchu area in Northeast China,choosing crow mythology as the starting point.This thesis makes a detailed classification of the mythological themes of the two places and also makes a detailed analysis of the content of crow mythology to illustrate the folk cultural connections between North America and Northeast Asia.Along the crow's footprint in the ancient mythology,we are finding out the deep imprint and valuable wealth that the crow culture left to the later culture.
