Study On Relationship Between Manchu Words And Manchu Shamanistic Culture

Shamanistic culture has always been an important project in domestic and foreignstudies on culture. Former studies always started from the anthropology, ethnology andhistory perspective, and there were few studies conducted from linguistics, especiallyfrom the senses of Manchu words. Till now, there hasn’t been any achievement instudying on the shamanistic culture by taking the cognate words as the focus andmaterials. In this paper, the cultural relationship between Manchu words andshamanistic culture have been explored on the basis of linguistics by combing with suchmaterials as Manchu references and mythologies and etc, and by employing the theoriesand methods of various subjects. The focus in this research is the Manchu words, whichis not a complete description for Manchu shamanistic culture, but to discover the beliefs,concepts and behaviors of Manchu shamanistic culture reflected by these words bystarting from the connections among each sense of Manchu words or among Manchuwords with cognate relation. It not only testifies some current theories and concepts inshamanistic culture, but also further proves the close relationship between language andculture and the fact that national language is one of the most reliable methods forstudying ethnic culture. It has innovative significance in both Shamanism and ManchuStudies.
