This thesis is a study about the desolate implication in Tao Yuanming's poems.Based on the intensive reading of Tao Yuanming's poems,the paper try to excavate the emotional implication of Tao Yuanming's Poems and reveal deep connotation and causes of pain under a natural charm of poetry.The full text is divided into four parts:Introduction introduces the general situation of Tao Yuanming's poems and explains the background and problems of the research.In the past research,majority of scholars define Tao Yuanming's poetry style as broad-minded and peaceful,there were also some scholars believed that pain and suffering exists simultaneously in his poems.This paper considers,Tao Yuanming had a rough life and complex thought.The occasional leisurely joy is just a embellishment in his painfull life,most of his life time still live in contradiction.So,the desolate implication is the deep feature of his poems.Chapter I,“the connotation of the desolate implication in Tao Yuanming's poems.”This chapter hackle the connotation of the desolate implication in Tao Yuanming's poems through his identity as average person,scholar,philosopher and hermit.This chapter explained the inquietude of Tao Yuanming when facing the plight of life,analysed emphatically about Tao Yuanming's painful struggle between the official career and seclusion to achieve his ideal,taked Tao Yuanming's life consciousness as the center to explore his fear of death,and dissected the spiritual loneliness of the choose of Tao Yuanming's hermitage road.Chapter ?,“the expression modes of the desolate implication in Tao Yuanming's poems.” Through the analysis of Tao Yuanming's poetry creation to explore the way of creating a desolate atmosphere of poetry,we summed up three ways: “express sadness by natural images” “reflect concerns by humanistic images” “hide resentment by chanting character allusions”.Discussed in depth to seek the concrete embodiment of these methods in Tao Yuanming's poetry,and discuss the expression modes of the desolate implication in Tao Yuanming's poems from two angles: images and allusions.Chapter ?,“the influencing factors of formation of the desolate implication in Tao Yuanming's poems.” The influencing factors of formation of the desolate implication in Tao Yuanming's poems were summed up into three aspects: “the special social condition of dynastic change” “inherit the traditional creation from the origin of poetry <Book of Songs> and <Chu Ci>” “the influence of regional cultural factors”.The desolate implication in Tao Yuanming's poems eventually formed by the influence of age,environment and literary tradition,and confirmed the frustration and grief which is difficult to get rid of exist in his life.
