Study On Duan Yucai’s Ancient Rhyme Parts Of Pictophonetic In Shuowen Jiezi Zhu

This thesis of study on Duan Yucai’s ancient rhyme parts of pictophonetic in Shuowen Jiezi Zhu studied three aspects on the gist of homophone characters’ ancient rhyme parts that Duan Yucai applied in Shuowen Jiezi Zhu:Firstly,according to analyze the cause that there 66 phonetic radicals which were classified in different ancient rhyme parts between Shuowen Jiezi Zhu and the ancient 17 symphony table,we found the theory that the pictophonetic characters with the same consonant certainly belong to the same rhyme part is not the rule that Duan Yucai applied to assign the ancient rhyme parts of homophone characters,otherwise it would not appear the contradictory phenomenon that the same phonetic radical were classified in different ancient rhyme parts between Shuowen Jiezi Zhu and the ancient 17 symphony table.Secondly,according to analyze the fact that there are 15 series of phonetics ancient parts which were classified under different ancient parts,which illustrate that the ancient parts of phonetic which Duan Yucai applied were based on other method : Rhyming words would be classified in ancient rhyme parts according to its rhyme reality,among which were rhyming with more than one rhyming part would be classified in light of the one they rhyme more frequently.Non-rhyming words would be classified in ancient rhyme parts on the basis of its backward corresponding law between ancient Chinese phonology and mid-ancient Chinese phonology.Generally,Xu Xuan’s phonetic annotation was just the selected mid-ancient pronunciation,but to the characters with more than one pronunciation,if this phonetic annotation was shifted sound,it would be replaced by another standard pronunciation.And association on account of pictophonetic was valid just in the condition of the phonograms with the same phonetic element,and also with the same rhyme part in middle ancient time.Thirdly,we found the coherence’s of theory that the pictophonetic characters with the same consonant certainly belong to the same rhyme part,according to research the theory that the pictophonetic characters with the same consonant certainly belong to the same rhyme part from the respect of the formation of pictophonetic characters.And Duan Yucai was deeply aware of it,so his theory theory that the pictophonetic characters with the same consonant certainly belong to the same rhyme part just as the principle of the formation of pictophonetic characters,and it was suitable for the beginning of creating pictophonetic characters.Therefore,it could not be as the rule that Duan Yucai applied to assign the ancient rhyme parts of homophone characters in Shuowen Jiezi Zhu.
