Construction And Communication Of The Chinese Characters In American Films And TV Dramas

In the context of globalization,films and TV dramas are essential on the area of acculturation and national image.However,films and TV dramas,the main medium of cultural transmission,mostly inauthentic in performing Chinese characters.For a century,the American producers have produced a set of stereotypical models to construct the Chinese characters.To some extent,their methods had described the social and cultural atmosphere at that time,expressed the power relationship between the East and the West,and reflecting the their own needs.The Chinese image is an complex system which contains many layers.On the one hand,we can know the way that American culture understand different culture.On the other hand,it is reflect the integration and conflict between Chinese cultural and others.We can know something about historical origins of Chinese characters when we trying to sort out and retrospective Chinese characters in different periods.The text analysis is indispensable for the study of the image.Therefore,I selected some typical Chinese characters as a sample from American movies and TV dramas,and they will be better understood by semiotics and narratology.In the past,most studies on Chinese characters only at the text level without personal experiences and investigations,while small-scale questionnaires and in-depth interviews can make a small and intuitive display of the influence of Chinese characters.We can get a glimpse of films and TV drams' effect on audience from the audience's perception and perspective of the Chinese characters.Lastly,we have to accept that Chinese characters are constructed by oriental way,and interpreting and thought for that.On the construction of China's soft power,analyze the image of Chinese in the American films and TV dramas is helpful for us to think about how to establish the good image of Chinese culture when spreading Chinese culture abroad.And on the perspective of cultural exchange,to interpretation of the Chinese characters and these cultural misreading in the American films and TV dramas can help us to enhance the cultural awareness in the cultural exchange between the East and the West,and enhance the cultural awareness for our national culture.
