This paper is an investigation of the school adaptation of migrant children, which aims to improve the school adaptation of migrant children through the group counseling in accordance with individual situations. Two studies are involved in this paper.According to the previous studies on the school adaptation of migrant children,a survey was conducted among the migrant and non-migrant children in four middle schools in Changsha,in which a questionnaire named ‘Secondary Students School Adaptation Scale'(compiled by Jing Hou)was implemented.A group counselling was subsequently developed to improve the school adaptation of migrant children. In terms of the second investigation,75 migrant children were selected to set up the three experimental groups basing on the group counseling from the survey. These groups, including an experimental group(treated with the group counseling),an activity group(distinguished from the experimental group)and a blank group(without treatment)were proceeded by intervention experiments. On the dimension of peer relations, the difference between experimental group, active group and blank group was extremely significant(F = 9.25,p < 0.01).On the dimensions of teacher-studentrelationship,the difference between the three groups was significant(F =14.49,p <0.01).On the dimensions of teacher-student conflict, the differences between the three groups was significant(F = 14.49,p <0.05).The results indicate that1.The scores of migrant children on the dimensions of teacher-student relationship,teacher-student conflict and peer relations were significantly lower than those of non-migrant children.2.The group psychological counseling in accordance with individual situations has significant improvement on school adaptation for migrant children.
