Augustine's Responsibility Ethics

Augustine is the godfather of Christian philosophy,in the middle century what's full of Christian doctrine,he has tried so many times to explore Existentialism--Existentialism under the coat of Christian philosophy,which treat the god as the highest,the only truth to tell secular people's essence,distinguish between good and evil dimension,and finally pointed out a well-being road to the happiness.Augustine 's ethical thoughts has been mostly affected by the Plato and Neo-Platonism.First of all,Augustine inherited the ancient Greek Plato concept and he believes that it's human's nature to pursue happiness,and the highest state of happiness is the continued pursuit of perfection.However,Augustine makes a step further based on the Plato that he thinks happiness is not existed in your life.The only possible in your life to get happiness is to believe,look forward to and love god under the grace of god.The real happiness only exists in the afterlife.Otherwise,Prototino who is the representation of Neo-Platonism regards the One as the origin of the world,the nous and soul are from the One,everything in the world has the position which is suitable for it.And it helps Augustine out of the trouble of the Duality of Manichaeism and make Augustine confirms that God is the only and the existence of perfection,evil is just lack of good.Augustine puts forward free will which is based on the One,and he thinks free will and original sin are the things that follow us from when we born,and human is made by the god which is good from the origin,and the appearance of the evil is the result of the choice which is made by free will.At this point,Augustine changed the original ancient Greek discussion of the good and evil dimension,opened the crime--evil behind the reasons for the pursuit.Evil is the free choice of human's will and the sin of the evil should also be borne by the individual alone,Augustine opened a constructive reflection that he made a bridge for Christianity and philosophy with the original sin theory and free will decision and he changed the existence of the ethics which is like a life guide.And then,"Responsibility" made its first appearance of the ethic's history.In Augustine 's Responsibility Ethics,human as the product which god makes are different from the others.Human are guilty from when they are born that decides humans can't have happiness with themselves.Otherwise,human have free will to have normal life which is gift that the god gives.And the above two points are special places between human and others.As the creatures made by god are all the good exist,but human may make decision to leave god due to their special places.So,any decision that is made by human depends on the will after the birth of people.Human are the body of responsibility,and the free will is the reason of responsibility.But god buries the grace in the people's heart,and gives the chances to human to achieve happiness because of the love of the god.Love,which is the practice of responsibility.The paper tries to start with the retrospective of Plato and Neo-Platonism,and makes Augustine as the clue of the Neo-Platonism to make comprehensive interpretation about the Augustine 's Responsibility Ethics.Also,it wants to dig out the influence of the Augustine 's Responsibility Ethics on the development of the western philosophy and its practical significance.
