The question of the relationship between free will and determinism is clearly not a new tone. From the beginning of the plight of Oedipus, the compatibility of the two questions is always between moral philosophy and political philosophy. However, the ideological system of traditional metaphysics has long been unable to clarify and solve the compatibility of the two issues. This article discusses Augustine's theory of free will from many aspects.First of all,it explains the theory of free will of Augustine, and puts forward the inherent problem of Augustine's view of free will, points out the limitations of Augustine's presentation of freedom, analyzes the causes of contradiction and the theoretical predicament.Secondly, goes through the simple question of free will and summarizes the development process of the free will problem, and clarifies the trend of researching of the free will problem since Augustine in the history. At last, the author discusses the relationship between the free will and the determinism from the perspective of the theory of Augustine's free will.It can not only find the free will of the "human" subjective humanistic care and its own inherent negative dimension, but also can be aware of the determinism itself implied "free" elements and its fundamental difference with the fatalism.
