A Research On Chen Zhifo's Thought Of Industrial Art Design

As a terminology,“Industrial Art” was originated developed and founded in early 20 th century of C hina.As a compound,it not only contains the tradition of C hinese “industry” and “art”,but also reflects the modern concept of western art creation.Chen Zhifo,as a pioneer of modern C hinese industrial art and the founder of the discipline of industrial art,is significant to do research and analysis.Chen Zhifo's industrial art creation is mainly embodied in the aspects of d yeing pattern,book binding,stamp design and so on.His creation is not only the reflection of his thought of industrial art design,but also the reflection of his thinking on the essence of modern industrial art in C hina,the core issue and the design st yle in the development of industrial art.Therefore,the analysis and research on C hen Zhifo'sessence,connotations and features of industrial art design,can help people understand Chen Zhifo's art thinking through the level of design,and also can provide the template for nowadays design and creation of crafts.This paper,on the basis of collecting extensive information,with the methodology of literature review and case study,deepens into interpret C hen Zhifo'sdesign thinking on industrial art.This paper consists of four chapters.The first chapter explores the current social and cultural status during reformation of modern China and western trend of industrial art movement,and analyzes the cause of C hen Zhifo's design thinking on industrial art.The second chapter,from the perspective of the creation objective and dyeing pattern of “Shangmei Gallery”,through the analysis on the technical level of the concrete crafts,describes the essence of “practicability and beauty” in Chen Zhifo's thinking on industrial art.The third chapter analyzes the design language of Chen Zhifo's book binding,including subject,pattern,sign,composition,etc.and summarizes the concept of the combination between “tradition and modern” in industrial art design.The fourth chapteranalyzes the practice of Chen Zhifo's industrial art and the ethnical thinking in creation and its reference and contributions to the world culture,and summarizes the characteristics of “striving for perfection in boundless practice”in his design thinking.
