This is a translation report of an American novel which comes from the first chapter of Yes,Please,the first work of Amy Poehler who is an American famous comedian.YES,PLEASE is Amy's autobiography that tells her growing experience and her beloved and hard comedy road,reflecting the contemporary American environment of women's pursuit of self-value.The author translates Yes,Please into Chinese,which helps Chinese readers to know the living environment and career development of American women.In the whole process of translation,the translator has a full preparation and then carries out a systematic analysis of the difficulties encounters in the process of translation,making summary about translation experiences and lessons,so as to accumulate experience for the future translation.In the chapter of the case analysis,the translator selects some difficult sentences as the example,and analyzes the process of translation under the guidance of the theory of Eugene · A · Nida's "functional equivalence",further explaining how to deal with the vulgar language,culture loaded words,and slang words.The translator hopes that this report can provide reference for the translation of biographies.In this translation practice,the theory that the translator adopted plays an important role in the translation process.Functional equivalence theory teaches the translator that translation is not only a rigid correspondence between words and words,but is based on the comprehensive consideration of context,logic,and writing,in order to a similar reaction between the source language readers and target language readers.Therefore,when encountering difficulties in the translation,the translator flexibly deals with translation by using literal translation,omission or amplification annotation,based on the literal meaning,so as to faithfully convey the text's meaning.
