The Research Of Jeanne’s Image In The Paintings Of Modigliani

Modigliani was an artist who was active in the early 20th century in Paris,France.He was frail and sick but very talented,especially sensitive to art.There are so many different school of art in the early 20th Century in France:Impressionism,Cubism,Expressionism,Fauvism......Modigliani inherited and developed on the basis of traditional art,but also learned and extracted the essence of new art,formed its own artistic language.His works of art have unique style,and different from others.Modigliani has also studied sculpture.His sculpture was learn from the classical,while drawing on the factors of African sculpture and primitive art.His sculpture was plain,very special.The experience of learning sculpture also influenced his paintings.He painted women mostly,and there was a most important woman called Jeanne Hebuterne,she was his best model and last lover.In the last three years of Modigliani’s life,Jeanne took care of him and gave him artistic inspiration.In this paper,a series of portraits painted by Modigliani for Jeanne Hebuterne is taken as an example to analyze and study the characteristic of Jeanne’s image.At last,by comparing Jeanne’s portrait with Pan Yuliang’s self-portrait and Lin Fengmian’s beauty paintings,to further study the value and influence of Jeanne’s artistic image.
