A Report On The Translation Of Tube Motor RB50E^plus : Users And Installers Manual

This thesis is based on the English-Chinese translation of Tube Motor RB50 Eplus Users and Installer Manual.The manual provides users with basic information to guide them to install,maintain and operate the equipment.The translation of the manual requires accurate information,the standard format and concise language.The significance of this thesis is to introspect and summarize the translation project.This thesis consists of five chapters.The first chapter introduces the research background and significance of this thesis.The second chapter describes the translation project,concerning the source of the project and the translation process.The third and the fourth chapters are the main part of this thesis.The third chapter presents and summarizes the characteristics of the general manuals and the project manual which has a large number of professional vocabulary,imperative sentences,passive voice,pictures and charts.On the basis of the third chapter,the fourth chapter analyzes the difficulties in translating professional vocabulary,sentences and the pictures and charts.And the translation methods,such as division and syntactic linearity,are used to solve the problems.In addition,the thesis also summarizes the methods of using CAT(computer aided translation)to deal with pictures and charts translation.The fifth chapter summarizes the merits and demerits of the translation project.The translation project enables the translator to put translation theory into practice,learn and grasp some translation tools and enhance the translation literacy.
