On The Academic Achievement Of The Narrative About Women In Zuo Zhuan

With opulent female narrative,Zuo Zhuan has recorded many different women.Scholars are focusing on researching about literary,sociological,and femaleological aspects of female narrative,but there is a lack of study from the angle of historical female narrative.Considering the important role Zuo Zhuan plays in China’s historical narrative study— the first detailed annalistic historiography in China—its female narrative has its unique academic position.In view of this,this article will inquire into the academic achievement about female narrative in Zuo Zhuan from the perspective of historical narrative.First,Zuo Zhuan dominated female narrative in the Pre-Qin history,in terms of the quantity,social class and event types of female characters in Zuo Zhuan.Such a huge scale of female narrative not only provides opulent historical data for Pre-Qin historical study,but also benefits Pre-Qin female study.Second,in terms of the characterization,Zuo Zhuan provides lively female images.There are even some chapters focusing on female,which means female characters are not stereotyped images any more,but they are individuals who can influence the history.This kind of characterization influenced female narrative in the later ages.Third,considering the both positive and negative attitudes in Zuo Zhuan,Zuo Zhuan’s female narrative praised the fine quality of female and had expectation of the moral and rite of female,which means the author recognized the value of female.Four,considering the whole narrative characteristic of Zuo Zhuan,Zuo Zhuan’s female narrative not only focused on female feelings and abilities,but also belittled the status of female and ignored female appeals and this reflects the social reality and indicates the unique improvement of female narrative of Zuo Zhuan.
