Abstract/Summary:
Emotional contagion refers to the process that emotional experience of the emotional recipients(infected individuals)tends to be consistent with the emotional providers in the environment recipients providing the emotional information. And in this process we always couldn’t realize the emotional variety of our own.Studies have shown that gender, interpersonal relationships, environment, emotional information and other factors will have an impact on em-otional contagion.Children in development are gradually formed the gender schema in the process of learning the concept of male and female defined by their sociocultural society. And the knowledge structure and cognitive schema used to select and process gender-related information.Studies have shown that gender-schematics participants are more automatically processing gender schema and the self-irrelated information according to gender than the gender-aschematic participants.According to the social comparison mechanism of emotional contagion, the individual can activate the assimilation effect or contrast effect by capturing the similar or the different information of others, thus affecting the dynamic processing and behavior response of the emotional information.Individuals tend to follow the emotional clues of others to make the appropriate response in the fuzzy context that can’t be based on their own inner experience clues to confirm the emotional reaction. In the emotional contagion environment of daily life, individuals are often in a vague emotional situation and difficult to perceive the source of their own emotional changes and processes. In this process, whether gender-schematic participants will influence the perception and processing to others’ negative emotions by their existing gender schemas,or under the same conditions, whether the gender-aschematic participants and gender-schematic participants have a difference in the degree of negateve emotional infection. These questions have not yet been explored, and these are the issues to be explored in this study. This study designed two experiments.Experiment one the 2-factor mixed experiment design for 2(gender schemality: gender-schematics / gender-aschematic)× 2(exposure condition: supraliminal / subliminal): After random sampling and follow-up scale screening,80 college students were selected as study subjects to study the effects of different gender schemas on negative emotional contagions through the static emotional facial stimulus.Experiment two the two-factor mixed experimental design for 2(gender schemality: gender-schematics / gender-aschematic)× 2(gender consistency: consistency / inconsistency):Combined with convenient sampling and random sampling, and the following scale screening, selected 80 as A group of subjects,80 college students as group B subjects to study the impact of gender schemas and gender consistency on emotional contagions through the emotional transmission’ situation with dynamic changes and the real interaction. The main concl-usions are as follows:1.Participants have produced a significant emotional contagion through the negative emotional facial images, positive emotional video, and talking with the individuals who have significant differences in the emotional level.2.The participants’ negative emotions were significantly different under different exposure conditions. The participants’ negative emotional contagion under the supraliminal of the emotional facial stimulus was significantly higher than that under the subliminal condition.3.The participants’ gender schema had no significant effect on negative emotional contagion.4.Music can effectively relieve negative emotions and enhance the emotional level.5.Participants’ negative emotional contagion under the conditions of gender consistency was significantly higher than the gender inconsistent conditions.6.Gender-schematic participants’ negative emotional contagion were signify-cantly higher than the gender-aschematic participants’ under the conditions of gender consistency.Gender-schematic participants’ negative emotional contagion were significantly lower than the gender-aschematic participants’ under the cond-itions of gender inconsistency.7.Gender-schematic participants’ negative emotional contagion under the conditions of gender consistency was significantly higher than the gender inconsistency.Gender-aschematic participants’ negative emotional contagion under the conditions of gender consistency was higher than the gender inconsistency, but the difference is not significant.
