The thesis is a translation report,and the original text is selected from Lab Girl(Chapters 1-3).Lab Girl is an autobiography,written by an American botanist and fossilist--Hope Jahren,and it tells us about the author's life experience--how she finally becomes a real lab girl.The original text is an autobiography,and it belongs to expressive writing.And for this type of text,the translator,informed by the Skopos theory,employs the translation techniques of word formation,supplementation and omission,and restructuring for this report.The thesis consists of five parts: Chapter One mainly introduces the translation report,including its background,goals,significance.Chapter Two describes the background of the original text,such as introduction of the original text,analysis of the original text and introduction of the author.Chapter Three states the main views of Skopostheorie,characteristic and strategy for translating autobiography literature.Chapter Four,the most important part,is about translation difficulties and methods,consisting of translation difficulties,translation preparations,translation methods,and the examples that are used to explain the translation methods applied in the process of translation.Chapter Five concludes the report with gains,lessons learned and unsolved problems.
