Adapted from Mo Yan's novel "Red Sorghum family",the teleplay "Red Sorghum" has attracted wide concern in the whole process from preparation, shooting to broadcast.Different from the original novel which set the main line on the hero named Yu Zhanao, the teleplay focused on the heroine Dai Jiuer, showing a highly density folk life different from the desolate sense in the original work.It told the story about Dai Jiuer,Yu Zhanao and other young people enduring a difficult life and growing up in the anti-Japanese war.Being faithful to the original story, the teleplay carried out the "second creation" by adding new characters, clues and plots, and formed a new story. In terms of the effect,it enriched the original story and characters, made a new interpretation to the novel's connotation. At the same time, due to several changes to the original story and the transformation from literature to the television art form, the teleplay abandoned the profound in a certain extent. The work of adaptation plays, especially adapted from the classic literature,is usually difficult. The adaptation of "Red Sorghum family" enjoyed both successes and failures, which have significant enlightenment. And it is a reminder to the adaptor that,in the process of adaptation, they should grasp the loyalty of the original work, understand and meet the expectations of the audience, strengthen the sense of responsibility and so on.
