| The medieval Chinese and Western worlds,a 6th century Chinese father and a 9th century French mother,wrote in their time devoted to personal feelings and different styles of family instructions documents,namely Yan Zhitui’s " Admonitions of the Yan Clan" and Dhuoda’s "Liber Manualis".These two books respectively reflect their own characteristics and style,the former content is complex,mainly in the subject of children’s education,and next to the folklore between the north and south of China’s differences,religious and Xianbei language communication,phonology and exegesis and other cultural topics of the unique discussion.The latter is limited by the educational level of the author,and has a strong religious significance,but the theme is more focused on the expression of a mother’s love for his son,as well as his earnest teachings and manners of the admonition.The main purpose of this dissertation is to make a special comparison of children and family education between China and the West by combing these two original historical documents.In the context of gender differences and their different turbulent era backgrounds,Seek common points while reserving difference,but the differences are the main point,Focus on the discussion of the children’s educational differences between Yan Zhitui and Dhuoda,under the calling of the emotions of the country,expressed themselves love to their children.Displayed the fatal changes of personal and family life,the historical changes of the state and society through words,so as to deepen the understanding of the Chinese and Western civilization in the Middle Ages between the split of the Northern and Southern Dynasties to the unity of the Sui and Tang Dynasties and the forthcoming disintegration of the Frank’s Carolingian Dynasty society’s cognition and understanding.My dissertation consists of four parts.the first one is a brief introduction of Septimania the place where Dhuoda lived and then to the two author’s life,to push the people to size them up better.The second part is a brief introduction to the contents of these two documents,but also simply reveals the creation of the two documents background.The third part is the focus and core of this dissertation,is to compare the two documents,respectively,from the comparative basis of the argument,the table of contents,the style and the content,the difference between the family education,both loyal objects and order,from a gender perspective to observe the ancient Chinese children and family education and other aspects of comparison.The last one is the summary of the full text,through the combining and comparison of the raw materials to reflect the ancient history’s value for future reference,to achieve the ancient use of the meaning and purpose. |
