A Study Of The Interpreting Strategies In Chinese-english Simultaneous Interpretation

Along with the improvement of comprehensive national strength,China's communications with other countries in the world become more and more frequent;and China has played an important role in international affairs.In many international activities and diplomatic occasions,simultaneous interpretation has become a necessary medium of communication.As an important theory for guiding simultaneous interpretation,the Interpretative Theory has been studied and applied in increasing aspects.The thesis introduces the origin of this theory in Europe,and its development in China,main contents,principles and aims of the Interpretive Theory.It also states how the Interpretive Theory is used in other interpreting studies.Some analyzing methods coming from these studies are also used in this thesis.Based on the author's understanding,it explains how the Interpretive Theory is used in the simultaneous interpretation of President Xi Jinping's keynote speech from Chinese to English at the 2015 Boao Forum for Asia.By carefully reading and analyzing its original text and the translation version,the thesis studies how the interpretation of phrases,sentences and paragraphs in the speech meets the requirement of Interpretive Theory from three aspects.The three aspects are understanding,deverbalization and expression.Besides,it points out the qualities of the interpreter that is shown in the interpretation process.By comparison,the author also hopes to help the readers improve their interpretation skills in future.This thesis can help the readers deeply understand how Interpretive Theory guides simultaneous interpretation effectively.By studying the case,it is proved that the application of Interpretive Theory can guide interpreters to finish simultaneous interpreting according to the specific rules.The interpretation can be much better.To improve their interpreting levels and optimize the interpreting process,interpreters have to accumulate professional knowledge as well as language cultures and combine interpretive theory with practical training.
