Researchers have been trying to explore how to praise success of children can make children better cope with subsequent setbacks.Western researchers have found the existence of inconsistent praise. The definition of inconsisitent praise through the proportion of person praise and process praise in the same task to children.Reseachers found that children in 5-6 years of age can be acutely aware of the different proportion of inconsistent praise which contains different proportions of personal praise and process praise. However, what the effect of inconsisitent praise in different cultural backgrounds are? And how inconsistent praiseeffects the children with different age? These questions are what we are trying to explore. This study is based on the former research paradigm, and makes a certain adaptation. The research paradigm includes two stages: the success task stage and the failure task stage. In the successful mission phase, participants completed the 4 item Raven reasoning test and, after each topic participants will receive the appropriate person praise or process praise;in the failure stage, subjects failed to complete 2 item Raven reasoning test. Finally, after the Raven reasoning test,we measure the motivation orientation of the children.Based on the previous research paradigm,we selected150 children aged 5-6years,and the different proportion of inconsistent praise was used to evaluate the children's task performance. We measure the motivation of children at the same time.On this basis,we continue to select 150 children over the age of 10,using the same experimental paradigm,to continue to explore the effects of different age inconsistent praise of subjects in the study based on the results of this study. Finally we draw the following conclusions:(1)The young children may not be able to accurately understand the relationship between effort and results, and can not distinguish between person praise and process praise;(2)The proportion of inconsisitent praise will affect the self-evaluation and persistence of older children, with the increase in the proportion of process praise in the inconsisitent praise, children's self evaluation and adherence also increased;(3)There was no gender difference in the effect of inconsisitent praise on the motivation orientation of older children;(4)Age is an important factor that influences the effect of inconsisitent praise on children's motivation orientation.
