Scholars of all ages paid lots of attention to what GuoPu had accomplished atpoetry and exegesis; they did rare research about GuoPu’s Figure Praise in the past.Actually, GuoPu’s Figure Praise have extremely unique significance and value on therespects of literariness, thought and historical meaning. This article consists of fivechapters, tries to probe into GuoPu’s Figure Praise and relative questions.Abriefintroduction of each chapter as follows.Chapter one introduce the relationship between Four Characters Poetry andFigure Praise. It tries to verify Four Characters Poetry’s influence to Figure Praisethrough combing Four Characters Poetry and Figure Praise. It introduces and analysesthe overview of Figure Praise in the Wei and Jin dynasties as well.Chapter two describe GuoPu’s life background, experience, creation overview tohave better knowledge and understanding on GuoPu. As we know more about GuoPu,we will have some knowledge about why GuoPu wrote such compositions, and whyhe revealed such mind-set in these compositions.Chapter three starts with introduction of writing process, spreading condition andversions of Classic of Mountains and Seas, and GuoPu’s Exegesis of Classic ofMountains and Seas, Figure Praise of Classic of Mountains and Seas. Then itspecifically analyzes and classifies the content of Figure Praise of Classic ofMountains and Seas.Chapter Four has the similar structure as last chapter. It starts with introductionwriting process, spreading condition and versions of Erya, and GuoPu’s Exegesis ofErya, Figure Praise of Erya. Then it specifically classifies and analyzes the content ofFigure Praise of Erya.Chapter Five draw a conclusion about the features showed in these two FigurePraise of GuoPu. By analyses from last two chapters, we can see the similarities anddifferences in form and content between these two works. The most significant part ofthese two works is that GuoPu express his own thought and emotion by the FigurePraise. These two works also reflect GuoPu’s profound reflection about life andconnotation of thought. Besides the form of these two works which uses concretesubject as topic, has a huge influence in Yongwu poems.
