On Personal Heroism Of America’s Popular Fiction

Since the end of the 18 th century,American Popular Fiction has realized the journey of the imitation,the course of development,perfection and prosper.The hero motif having more connotation for the respect to the spirit of individualism and equality consciousness.The American personal heroism is centrally conceal in the American’s popular literature.Based on the Cowboy Fiction,Detective Fiction and Science Fiction of American’s popular Fiction.Selecting typical heroic image to interpret the connotation of personal heroism spirit and the process of produce,development,change and influence of it.In the introduction part,I combed the development of American popular fiction,analyzed the development and the point of research in the Cowboy Fiction,Detective Fiction and Science Fiction.Then summarized the research status and difficult point of personal heroism spirit.Explained the research methods and research significance in the paper.The text consists of three chapters.At the First chapter,I introduce the development and formation of personal heroism in American’s Popular Fiction by the images of the Cowboy,the Detective and the Spaceman.At the mid and late 19 th century,the individual individualist heroes became adventure,independent,ignoring the rules and regulation.At the 20 th century,the personal heroism claimed the personal freedom of worship,the extreme of personal salvation ability.In the second chapter,I summarized common characteristics of hero images by the opposing good and evil,the breaking away from time and space,the quality of solitary,and revealing the common characteristics of personal heroism spirit,the connotation of individualism and liberalism.However,America’s Personal Heroism spirit is not being fixed,At the third chapter,I illustrate and the impact on the development of personal heroism on the popular fiction in the 1960 s.Personal heroism in Cowboy,Detective,and Spaceman performance for the free development of individual rights and justice for the unjust,the maintenance of social order and group.But the extreme personal heroism effecting the development of individual self-consciousness.and also having impact on the liberalism,the establishment of individual rationality and the reinforcement for the expression of individualism.However extremely self-expansion will infringe on people’s ability to save itself,presenting a more personal heroism of division.In the conclusion part,through the journey of American’s popular fiction on the track of silence,rebel,the noise until calm overview.under the new conditions,the individual heroism in the contemporary society will become more extreme,thus demands freedom and equality,until the emergence of the new individual heroes coming.
